One Foot in Sonoma and One in Napa: Dry Creek Vintner Releases Napa Valley Wines
Ed Sbragia Presents a New Mountain Cabernet, 2012 Godspeed, and his 2013 Gamble Ranch Chardonnay
Geyserville, CA, September 30, 2015: Ed Sbragia has always had a deep appreciation and passion for the unique character of the Napa and Sonoma growing regions. A recognized leader in crafting mountain cabernet as well as rich and complex chardonnay, Ed continues to innovate and explore new vineyard sites, soil types and the personal expression of his deep-rooted history.
“We are in the 15th harvest at Sbragia Family Vineyards,” commented Ed. “I’ve always had one foot in Sonoma and one in Napa. These are my Napa Valley wines. One is an old friend and the other a new one.”
When discussing his latest releases, Ed had this to say:
2013 Gamble Ranch Chardonnay. “This vineyard spans the Yountville and Oakville Crossroads and is divided into dozens of blocks according to soil type and aspect. I’ve produced wine from this property since 1976 and today select fruit from a very few specific sites that make rich, flavorful and complex Chardonnay.”
2012 Godspeed Cabernet Sauvignon. “This is a new wine for us, Cabernet Sauvignon from a 22 acre vineyard on Mount Veeder. At 1,500 feet elevation, Larry Stricker’s picturesque vineyard comprises a series of steep hillsides and mixed volcanically-derived soils. The vines that cling to its slopes produce small clusters of deeply concentrated grapes that lead to statuesque wines with immense aging potential.”

About Sbragia Family Vineyards
Sbragia Family Vineyards is located in Dry Creek Valley. The brand was born in 2001, when Ed Sbragia decided to focus on making limited, individual lots of wine from grapes grown in select blocks of his favorite Sonoma and Napa Vineyards. Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc are produced from estate vineyards in Dry Creek that range in size from five to thirteen acres. The winery also produces a Chardonnay from Gamble Ranch in Napa Valley and Cabernet Sauvignon from Monte Rosso (Moon Mountain District), Godspeed (Mount Veeder) and Andolsen (Dry Creek).
The Sbragia family history runs deep in the Dry Creek Valley. Ed’s grandfather came to the Valley from Tuscany in 1904, where he worked in wineries. Ed’s father, Gino, acquired his own vineyards near Healdsburg, growing zinfandel grapes for sale and home winemaking. The Sbragia family purchased the old Lake Sonoma Winery facility at the end of Dry Creek Valley in 2006 and it is where Sbragia Family Vineyards has made a home for their wines. Today, Ed is joined by his son, Adam Sbragia, as winemaker.
Sbragia Family Vineyards is a Bacchus portfolio company.
