Mr. Owsley serves as a Managing Partner of Bacchus and on its Investment Committee. Mr. Owsley is the CEO of Gordian, which he founded in 1988. Previously, he was with Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he founded the firm's Workout Group. While at Goldman, he was also a founding member of its Technology Group.
He has been involved in many of the firm's engagements, including AmeriServe, Ben & Jerry's, Chiquita Brands, Enron, Federal Communications Commission, Foss Manufacturing, IES, IdleAire Technologies, Heilig-Meyers, LTV, MiniScribe, Mississippi Chemical Corporation, Morrison Knudsen, Office of Thrift Supervision, Ogden Corporation, Olympia & York, Osyka Corporation, Phar-Mor, Safety-Kleen, Solutia, State of Vermont, Summit Global Logistics, Tracor, United Rentals and Zale.
He is consistently named one of the ten leading investment bankers involved in bankruptcies and financial restructurings by The Deal and was recently profiled in The Deal.
Mr. Owsley received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, summa cum laude, from Princeton University and a Master of Science degree from the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His honors included Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi.
Mr. Owsley co-authored the leading book in the restructuring field, Distressed Investment Banking: To the Abyss and Back, published in 2005 by Beard Books LLC. He is also co-author of The Role of the Investment Banker, Bankruptcy Business Acquisitions, LexMed Publishing, 1998, which details various strategies and tactics used in distressed situations.
